The kiss and the bag

Written by Jacueline Engelke, Karin Schwirzke / Kassel / Germany

The main station in Frankfurt is the busiest one in Germany. Strange enough it was a terminal station. On February 5th, like on any other day, a constant flow of people made it's way through the station. ICE 775 from Kassel arrived exactly in time at 10.44 on track 6.

The first ones to get off were Gerda Hübsch and Georg Müller, the later dragging along two suitcases. They both turned immediatly to look for the train to Cologne.

Lily Krause left the train a little later, halted a while and looked around. Just one carriage further she recognized Heiner Maier (with ai). Lily smiled and made her way towards him, who hadn't seen her yet. When she taped on his shoulder, he turned around and gazed at her. Lily tried to give him a kiss on his cheek. Some things happened almost simultaneously.

Tom got off the train, carrying the luggage of Jenny Herz as well. As soon as Jenny Herz had set a foot on the track, a young man with a black bobble hat walked passed her, almost made her stumble, grabbed her Gucci bag and ran off as quick as lightning.

Jenny screamed. "Goodness, my bag, my bag...." Heiner screamed. "Goodness, Lily...." stepped back a bit, throwing his long yellow scarf around his neck. Instead of wrapping around his neck, the scarf hit the thief in the face, who stumbled against Heiner, almost fell down, Jenny's bag falling on the floor. The thief wanted to grab it again, but Tom followed him on his foot and almost got him. Thus he decided to better get away. Tom ran after him a little more but turned around then and took Jenny's bag.

Heiner massaged his neck, inspected if his scarf had been harmed by this incident and shook his head. He didn't quite understand what was going on. "Goodness, Heiner, are you okay", Lily said, touching his arm. They were surrounded by a bunch of curiously looking people. Jenny came running along too, making her way through the crowd. Tom walked up to her. "Here's your bag!".

Jenny: (walks towards Heiner and puts her hand on his breast) "You saved my life nearly! Thank you so much! Your very fast reactions are uncredible! Really professional. May I ask, if fast reactions are connected with your job?" Heiner M.: (feels flattered) "Well, in a certain way you can´t negate this, indeed. But now please excuse me. I say "Good beye" because I´m not allowed to miss the train to Cologne.

Jenny: "To Cologne? Well, that´s perfect! We are on the same train. So I may invite you for a drink? Prosecco, perhaps?" Heiner M.: " With pleasure. Thank you." Jenny: "Nice to hear this. I suggest first to go to our seats for stowing away our luggage - you have a seat-reservation, too? - We´ll meet in about 15 minutes, okay? Tom, you are invited too, of course. See you!" Now Jenny, Heiner M. and Tom get on the train to Cologne.
